You say that we should all support our troops 
Well, who in their right mind would disagree with you
But we seem to disagree about exactly what that means 
Define “support”
What does it mean to you?

If you really want to support our troops
You could begin by telling them the truth
Why don’t you tell them the real reasons you’re asking them to put their lives on the line
And then leave each and every one of them free to decide
Whether generating contracts and protecting investments is a good enough reason to die

So let’s support our troops, let’s get ‘em out of harm’s way
Our sons and daughters lives are much too precious to waste
Trading their blood for oil is much too steep a price to pay
Let’s not let one more soldier die for Bush and Cheney’s mistakes 
All their disinformation and outright lies
Their clever distortions about the reasons why we are asking our soldiers to fight, kill, and die
Let’s support our troops, let’s bring ‘em home today
